Hello~~!!
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
This week’s topic for Top Ten Tuesday today is ‘The Characters that Everyone Loves, but I Just Don’t Get’. Well, here’s the thing: I do read a lot of books but most of them are like chic lit, contemporary that even though there are characters in the book that I don’t like, I’m not totally invested in them. Or they’re not popular, so therefore I cannot compare what I feel about them with other people. Nevertheless, here’s my list of the ten characters that other people seem to love, but I just don’t get.
Cath – Fangirl
As much a I like Levi, I’m just not a big fan of Fangirl and I’m not a huge fan of Cath cos I just can’t connect to her.
Ben & Fallon – November 9
I loved November 9 when I first read it. Then I started thinking more deeply about the characters, and suddenly it’s just like, I don’t even know why I like them. I still gave it 5 stars as I do like the story, but I did not like the characters as much as I used to.
Becky Bloomwood – Shopaholic Series
I loveeeee Sophie Kinsella and have read all of her books, so I’ve come to the conclusion that I do love her writing, and it’s just Becky that just grates on my nerves. Even then, I still did read the series, up until the latest one. I just couldn’t be bothered with the latest release (Shopaholic to the Rescue) cos I just know I would hate it.
Agustus Waters – The Fault in Our Stars
I don’t know why, but I just don’t love him as much as other people seem to.
America Singer – The Selection Series
I don’t hate her but I think I read through the Selection series more because of Maxon.
Lola – Lola and the Boy Next Door
Out of the ‘series’, Lola is definitely my least favourite. Compared to the other two girls, Anna and Isla, I just feel like I cannot connect with Lola. I cannot understand her at all.
Bella – Twilight
Don’t have to say much about this right? I feel a little meh about her character, like there’s nothing to like about her. However, I do feel like she became stronger once she became a vampire.
Margo – Paper Town
She’s just boring to me. She was supposed to exude the mystery feelings but I just feel nothing. And I don’t see the point of her character, seriously.
Draco Malfoy – Harry Potter series
I love Tom Felton, the actor who played Draco Malfoy and I know a lot of people loveeee Draco Malfoy (and I do kinda have a soft spot for the film-version of him LOL) but character wise, not one of my favourite characters from the series.
Finally someone else who doesn’t get Cath. I’ve felt like I was the only one for the longest time. Happy reading! https://ireadboooks.wordpress.com/2016/03/08/characters-that-annoy-the-hell-out-of-me/

I don’t get the Draco love! Part of me wonders if it isn’t because the actor. Because I do have a soft spot for him, it does make watching Draco more tolerable than reading about him!

Tbh I feel like Sophie Kinsella writes Becky Bloomwood with different names for most of her books — her protagonists are usually a bit ditsy and a bit clumsy and just overall a bit damsel-in-distressy, I feel. She’s such a guilty pleasure of mine, though; I really liked The Undomestic Goddess. 😛

I really disliked Margo too! I mean was there someone out there that did connect to her??? What a self-centered jerk.
